Tom Orf's rich, soulful baritone voice has graced many recordings, stages and concert halls in Chicago, throughout the USA & internationally. His heartfelt interpretation of songs covering the full range of musical styles and genres has brought him much critical acclaim. Tom's latest artistic endeavor has been in Brazilian music, as a member of the Evanston Escola de Samba, singing Brazilian music & dancing the samba!
In Dec 1997, Tom was invited to be a featured soloist in the gala grand opening of the Tivoli Gardens in Kurashiki Japan. In Chicago, Tom has appeared with a variety of musical/theatrical ensembles including The Cathedral Singers, Chicago Opera Theatre, Lincoln Opera, Rockefeller Chapel Choir, American Ritual Theatre Co., Bailiwick Repertory, and American Medieval Players.
A magna-cum-laude graduate of Drake University, with degrees in Music and French, Tom has given numerous solo song recitals, and has toured with various musical groups to Italy, France & England. Tom's many stage roles have included The Gentleman in "Incorruptible"; Charles Owsly in "Peyote Roadkill"; Antichrist in "Apocalypse Then: the Play of Antichrist"; and operatic roles such as Giorgio Germont in "La Traviata", Marcello in "La Boheme", Silvio in "I Pagliacci", & Sharpless in "Madama Butterfly". His voice has been heard "across the airwaves" on WFMT, WBEZ & WDCB radio stations in Chicagoland, as well as other radio stations in the USA. In his spare time, Tom works as a database specialist for Christie's Auctioneers. |
